I have been debating about how to do this. The main thing is deciding whether or not I really want to bother with it. But all of my daemons are currently legal for Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar because they share the same base size. So the issue is, with the return of Warhammer: The Old World the bases are really screwy. So let me explain.
If I try to transfer over my daemons the oval bases for the most part won't fit on the square bases. In addition to the roughly 25 Bloodletters I also have about 60 Pink Horrors and 9 Flamers. If I rebase any of this stuff, then I won't have access to it in another game. So with these models I am basically restarting from scratch on my Infantry. I have thirty more Pink Horrors and nine more Flamers on the way, so I am simply going to start them on new 30mm bases if I want to use them. If I decide to redo my Khorne daemons, I might honestly - but that's probably down the line.
So stuff is going to work a lot better. As illustrated in this next picture:
This will basically require me to rebase all of my Burning Chariots and my Skull Cannon on small square bases. Then I will need to laser cut an edge and install some magnets so I can simply remove the square base from the oval. It seems a little more practical than repainting a whole new army. For the Furies they are going up from 25mm to 30mm squares, so they are super easy to do. I could do the same thing with the Brimstone Horrors, but I am going to try a little different techinque since they have become swarms. The idea is one is inserted and the other sits on a magnet. That will make the 40mm bases a little more full. I mean it might work.
My Bloodthirster should work really great on a 100mm x 150mm base. He's an easy fix.
So is the Lord of Change
For the Screamers I will probably offset them instead of centering them. They have such long tails. But they are currently on 32mm bases like the rest of the infantry. I think they will look pretty cool ranked up on these bases. But we'll see if it works.
The daemon princes are annoying because they are not going to cooperate either. They seem like really good models in Warhammer: The Old World, but they have also released a great looking new model so I might just get one of those. Or I could just rebase my oldest one because he is relatively small - I have one of the last metal Daemon Princes. I don't technically own a Soul Grinder and I absolutely hate the model. But I do have resin model from creature caster, the Lady of Arcana, all painted up on a 60mm base so she might end up as my Soul Grinder.
All in all - it is frustrating going back and forth between games, but some of it might not be terribly hard to work with. At least I have access to a lasercutter and 757 Makerspace, so for doing really cool custom stuff like this it won't be terribly bad. One thing is Chaos Daemons are painfully expensive. I shouldn't have too hard a time making an army with a few choices overall.
I might just start working on the ones I don't even have to rebase physically and just fit down into the slots. I haven't played a game with my High Elves yet - so it's more or less just an exercise in modelling.
